Within the context of strengthening international relations, our university welcomed the visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea in Chile, Hak-Jae Kim, who held various official and academic activities together with university directives.
During his visit, the diplomat met with rector Nelson Vásquez, to dialogue about academic collaboration opportunities, student mobility and cooperation initiatives between higher education institutions in both countries.
In addition, the ambassador held meetings with International Affairs general director, Orlando de la Vega; International Exchange program director, Ivania Yáñez; and the director of International Projects, Ignacio Bahamonde, with whom he addressed cooperation possibilities in common areas of interest and strengthening the relationship between the PUCV and Korean universities.
As part of his visit, ambassador Hak-Jae Kim offered a lecture called “Exploring Korea: Paths of Development and Cooperation with Chile”, an activity that had great attendance and gathered members of the Valparaiso Consular Corps, scholars, PUCV students and also students from other institutions in the region.
The conference was a successful opportunity for intercultural encounter and dialogue, allowing attendants to learn about the experience of development of South Korea, the opportunities for bilateral cooperation and perspectives for creating a stronger relationship between both countries in academic, scientific, cultural and economic areas. The activity sparked much interest among participants, who valued the possibility of expanding their knowledge of South Korea and the opportunities for collaboration and exchange that exist between both countries.
